Bluetooth Icon or Toggle Missing in Windows 11? Get It Back in the Right Order

Published June 10, 2026 · by The FixHub Team

The Bluetooth toggle has vanished from Settings and Quick Settings in Windows 11 — there’s no obvious way to turn it on.

Why “reinstall the driver” shouldn’t be step one: most posts jump straight to driver reinstalls. Microsoft’s order is simpler and faster — confirm it’s not switched off at a higher level first, then fix the radio. Work down:

Fix 1: Turn off Airplane mode and re-check

  • Airplane mode hides Bluetooth entirely. Quick Settings → make sure Airplane mode is OFF.
  • Some laptops have a physical wireless key (Fn + a radio key) — toggle it.

Fix 2: Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter

Open the Get Help app → search “Bluetooth troubleshooter”, or Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Bluetooth → Run. It re-enables the service and resets the radio automatically.

Fix 3: Fix the radio in Device Manager

If there’s still no toggle, the radio may be hidden/disabled:

  1. Device ManagerView → Show hidden devices.
  2. Expand Bluetooth. If the radio is there but disabled, right-click → Enable. If it’s missing or under “Other devices/Unknown,” that’s a driver/detection issue.
  3. Update driver (Search automatically), or get the latest Bluetooth driver from your PC/laptop maker’s support page.

Fix 4: Restart the Bluetooth Support Service

Win + Rservices.mscBluetooth Support Service → set Startup type = Automatic (Trigger Start) and Start it. Reboot, then re-check the toggle.

FAQ

No “Bluetooth” category in Device Manager at all? The radio isn’t being detected — a driver or hardware-detection issue (Fix 3). On a desktop, confirm the Bluetooth adapter/dongle is actually present.

Toggle’s back but devices won’t pair? Different problem — see Bluetooth won’t pair / keeps disconnecting.
