How to Set Up iCloud Passwords on Windows and Use It in Your Browser

You want the passwords saved in your iCloud Keychain on your iPhone or Mac to autofill in your browser on a Windows PC.

Why: iCloud for Windows includes an iCloud Passwords app plus a browser extension. Once it’s on, your Apple Account passwords are available on the PC and can autofill in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox — the same logins you use on your Apple devices.

Step 1: Confirm the requirements

iCloud Passwords needs these in place first:

• Two-factor authentication turned on for your Apple Account.
• A trusted device to receive verification codes, running iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS 11, or later.
• Either Advanced Data Protection turned on, or your Apple device within Bluetooth range of the Windows PC.

You also need iCloud for Windows installed and signed in.

Step 2: Turn on Passwords and Keychain

1. Open iCloud for Windows.
2. Next to Passwords and Keychain, click the arrow and toggle Passwords & Keychain on. (You may instead see Approve — click it and enter the code sent to your trusted device or phone number.)
3. Your saved logins are now available in the iCloud Passwords app on the PC.

Step 3: Install the browser extension

1. Open iCloud for Windows and click the arrow next to Passwords and Keychain.
2. Click Install Extension next to your browser’s name — Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions, then click Done.

Now your iCloud passwords autofill in that browser the way they do on your Apple devices.

FAQ

Does this turn off my browser’s own password manager? Yes. Enabling the iCloud Passwords extension disables the browser’s built-in password-saving feature so the two don’t clash.

Which browsers are supported? Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox.

I don’t see Approve or a code prompt — what now? Make sure two-factor authentication is on for your Apple Account and that a trusted Apple device is nearby (within Bluetooth range) or that Advanced Data Protection is enabled.
