Can't Sign In to Slack or Forgot Which Workspaces You're On? Find Them Fast
You can’t get past the Slack sign-in screen, or you simply don’t remember which workspace URL to type.
Why: Slack ties workspaces to your email address, not a single login. So the fix is almost always to let Slack email you the list of workspaces your address belongs to — no URL or password needed. The most common gotcha is signing up with a different email than you’re now trying to use.
Fix 1: Let Slack email you your workspaces
If you don’t know your workspace URL:
- Go to slack.com/signin/find (the “Find your workspace” page).
- Enter the email address you use for work and click Continue / Confirm.
- Slack emails you a list of every workspace associated with that address. Open the email and click the workspace you want — that signs you straight in.
If the email doesn’t arrive, check spam, and ask IT to allow mail from @slack.com and @slack-mail.com.
Fix 2: Sign in with a password-free code
If you have the URL but the password won’t work:
- Go to slack.com/signin (or click Sign in in the desktop app) and enter your workspace URL.
- Enter your email address and choose Sign in with email instead of typing a password.
- Slack sends a 6-character confirmation code to your inbox. Enter it to sign in — no password required.
This avoids password problems entirely. If your workspace uses single sign-on, you’ll be sent to your company’s login (Google, Okta, etc.) instead.
Fix 3: Make sure you’re using the right email
Many “I can’t sign in” cases are simply the wrong address:
- If you have separate personal and work emails, your account may live under the other one.
- Re-run Fix 1 with each email address you own. Whichever one returns the workspace you expect is the account you signed up with.
- Still nothing? You may have used Continue with Google or Continue with Apple originally — try those buttons on the sign-in screen with the matching account.
FAQ
Where do I find my workspace URL? It looks like yourteam.slack.com. If you’ve ever opened it, it’s in your browser history — or just use the email finder in Fix 1.
The code email never arrives. Wait a minute and check spam. If it still doesn’t come, the address probably isn’t tied to a Slack account — try a different email or ask a workspace admin to invite you.
Can I be signed in to several workspaces at once? Yes. In the desktop app, click the + at the bottom of the left workspace rail to add another, and switch between them anytime.
