How to Find Your QuickBooks Desktop License & Product Number (No CAMPS Needed)
You need your QuickBooks Desktop License Number and Product Number — to reinstall, reactivate, or move to a new PC — but you can’t find them. Common reason: an accountant or reseller registered the product for you, so it’s not in your Intuit account / CAMPS. Good news: if QuickBooks is installed and opens on the machine, the numbers are right there in the app — no CAMPS required.
The fastest way: press F2 (Product Information)
- Open QuickBooks Desktop (you don’t need to open a company file).
- Press
F2(orCtrl + 1). - The Product Information window opens. At the top you’ll see:
- Product name + your release (e.g. Enterprise 24.0 R5),
- Product Number,
- License Number.
- Write them down (a phone photo of that window is the easiest record).
This is the same registration data QuickBooks stores locally — F2 just displays it for you in plain sight. So you don’t need to dig into or decode any license files; the app reads them and shows the numbers directly. It works regardless of who originally registered the product.
On QuickBooks for Mac: open QuickBooks, then Help → Product Information.
If you can’t open QuickBooks
Pick whichever applies — these are all official Intuit routes:
- CAMPS — if you do have the Intuit account it was bought under: sign in at camps.intuit.com → Products & Services → your product → Details shows the license & product number.
- Original purchase confirmation email (digital purchase) or the product packaging (retail box/card).
- Intuit License Look Up tool — if it was never registered or you’ve lost everything, use Intuit’s license-lookup at emaillicense.quickbooks.com to retrieve it by verifying your details.
- Ask whoever registered it — the accountant/ProAdvisor or reseller who set it up has the numbers (and, for a reseller, should provide them — that’s part of a legitimate sale).
- Contact Intuit with proof of purchase if the above don’t work.
After you have the numbers
- Reinstalling or activation acting up? See reset QuickBooks registration & re-activate.
- Error 3371 on install? QuickBooks Error 3371, Status Code 11118.
FAQ
The accountant registered it under their account — can I still get my number? Yes — press F2 on the machine where it’s installed (above); that doesn’t depend on whose Intuit account it’s under. If the PC is gone, the accountant/reseller who registered it can look it up in their account.
F2 shows the license but the last digits are masked. Some builds mask part of it on screen — the full number is on your purchase record/packaging, or via CAMPS/License Look Up. For reactivation on the same machine you usually don’t need to retype it at all (see the reset-and-reactivate guide).
Do I need my license to move to a new computer? Yes — that’s the supported path (reinstall + activate with the number, or the Migrator Tool). Recover the number with F2 before you decommission the old PC.
